Things to do in Oslo

Oslo is the capital of Norway, therefore there is no shortage of things to do in Oslo; both educational and entertaining. The Oslo Cathedral is a popular tourist destination and the surrounding courtyards are now used by artisans and craftsmen to sell their wares. The Nobel peace Center is a great way to learn about the history of the Nobel prize, as less information about all of its winners. For adults interested in a party Oslo has a very vibrant nightlife with many bars and dance clubs. Tourists interested in a more natural experience will be pleased to visit many of the Oslo parks as well as the freshwater swimming sites.
You can find more specific information in our sections about Oslo museums, events in Oslo and also in our popular section about the entertainment in Oslo
Oslo shopping

If there is one thing to know about Oslo shopping it is that you will need to bring your checkbook. Oslo is a very expensive city, and unless you are shopping during sales it is unlikely that you will get much of a bargain on most items. The one exception to this rule is designer clothing; oftentimes the prices of designer clothing and Oslo is less expensive than you'll find in more fashion oriented cities like Paris or Milan, take this with a grain of salt however as these are still very expensive pieces of clothing to purchase.
For complete information where to go please look in our special section about the shopping in Oslo. You could also buy a shopping guide from our Oslo webshop.
Car parking - car hire in Oslo

Unless your trip includes visiting the outlying regions of the city there is really no reason to bother with car hire in Oslo. An excellent train and public transportation system will get tourists wherever they need to go within the city quickly and affordably. A comprehensive system of taxis, buses, trams, and even boats gets people where they need to go. If you do need to use a car you will find that car parking is available as necessary and the roads are all thoroughly modern and relatively easy to navigate. Keeping all this in mind it is still easier to rely on Oslo public transportation over renting a car.
We have a great booking section if you want to rent a car in Oslo. You can also get more specific information about all the transportations in Oslo. Please visit our section about the Oslo transportations in that case.
Oslo hotel - Oslo restaurant

Depending on the season finding an Oslo hotel can be difficult due to the many conferences and trade shows that have been in and around the city. Because of this tourists are recommended to book the room as far in advance as possible in order to ensure that they have a place to stay. It is also worth remembering that Oslo is a very expensive city therefore unless you are willing to camp or stay in a hostel be prepared to spend top dollar for a nice room. The same high prices also translate to the majority of Oslo restaurants. Tourist should expect to pay a lot of money for fine dining, and even a hefty amount for normal dining. Similarly pubs and nightclubs are also relatively expensive.
