Gospel choir of Europe
The Oslo Gospel Choir is a popular gospel choir of Europe based in Oslo, Norway. The Norwegian Oslo Gospel Choir was founded back in 1988. Though a Gospel choir of Europe, the Oslo Gospel Choir has also been well received in the US as well. At present, this troupe has been able to rake in sales of more than 1 million albums for their 20 releases. Andrae Crouch is the American gospel music leader who has been able to influence the Oslo Gospel Choir with his philosophy of allowing gospel music to be performed in other venues aside from churches. This approach permits more people to become aware of the beauty of gospel music. Andrae Crouch has been involved in development of some albums by the Oslo Gospel Choir.
Black gospel music
The repertoire of the Oslo Gospel Choir is based heavily on Black gospel music from the US. This may explain why the Oslo Gospel Choir has become very popular in America as well. Even Elvis Presley was a follower of Black gospel music, having produced one album devoted purely to this musical genre. In Norway, the Oslo Gospel Choir has been honored by the participation of the Norwegian Princess Martha Louise. Anyone who has been following Black gospel music in the US music scene may have heard of gospel musician Andrae Edward Crouch as well. Elvis Presley was also acquainted with Andrae Edward Crouch in his time. The Black gospel music of Crouch (a Grammy Award winner) is quite popular with African American Pentecostal Christians.
