In summer there are ferries going out to the ilets surrounding Oslo. The biggest and most intresting one is Hovedoeya (meaning main island) On this small islands right outside the centre of Oslo. Cistercian monks built a monastery here in the 11th century. A walk through the ruins can be quite a romantic affair, and can easily be combined with a refreshing swim in the fjord . This is the place to be on a hot day! It can be reached by taking ferry 93 from Vippetangen (behind Akershus Fortress).
